Science is an extraordinary activity that, although part of the everyday working world, brings unexpected experiences and surprises. Join us for a Night of Scientists on the theme of Transformation.

The Moravian-Silesian Research Library in Ostrava, founded in 1951, is a key cultural institution of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It offers a rich book collection, periodicals, electronic resources and specialized collections. It provides lending and reference services, study facilities and organises educational and cultural events. It is actively engaged in the digitisation of materials and the use of modern technologies. It cooperates with many institutions at national and international level. The library is housed in a modern building designed for optimal conditions of preservation of the collection and comfort of users.

The event takes place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and is open to participants of all ages and interests. s most interested in. Advance reservations are required for lectures and some tours.

In light of this year's theme, Transformation, the Moravian-Silesian Research Library in Ostrava, perfectly integrated into the monumental New Town Hall on Prokeš Square, will be transformed for one night into an arena of scientific discovery. On the occasion of the Night of Scientists, every corner of this historic building will come alive with a series of lectures, experiments and interactive activities.

A lecture marathon will unfold in the right wing of the Town Hall, which is normally quiet for studying, while the adjacent Lending Library will become the epicentre of a cryptographic game. Here, participants will pick up everything they need for their adventure - maps, guides - and embark on a route that will take them through the library's fascinating displays to its immediate surroundings.

The end of the journey, and thus the entire Night of Scientists, will belong to the Makerspace workshop located in the left wing of the building, where brave puzzlers will not only be rewarded but also have the opportunity to participate in creative workshops. This night of transformation and discovery promises not only fun, but also new insights into the world of science and technology.
