Guided tour of the current exhibition at the Student Gallery with curator Tomáš Koudela. Dan Trantina is one of the leading figures of Czech painting from the middle generation. He graduated from the studio of Jiří Načeradský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Trantina's work is characterized by a strong painterly expressive gesture on the borderline between abstraction and reality. For Trantina, the content aspect of his paintings is also important, where he plays with the profane and the sacred worlds with his own blasphemous humor—in Trantina's painterly cosmos, images of saints and gods intertwine with a peeing dog belonging to Paris Hilton.
