Our Faculty of Science is a leading research faculty at the University of Ostrava and ranks among the prominent institutions in the Czech Republic. We rely on high-quality scientific teams in our departments and research centers, as well as on individuals capable of passing on their knowledge and experience to students.

We educate students in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in fields such as biology, environmental geography, physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and also social geography, which focuses on humans and society. Our students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that they can apply in their future careers. At the same time, as part of lifelong learning, we offer opportunities for those interested to expand their education into other fields and educational levels.

We take pride in our excellent facilities and state-of-the-art technical equipment, which not only enables our scientists to produce impressive research results (with publications in prestigious scientific journals such as Nature, Science, PNAS, etc.) but also supports the development of our students. Our research teams regularly achieve success with their projects at the Czech Science Foundation and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic.
