Museum of the Highlands Jihlava

Museum of the Highlands Jihlava (MHJ) is the largest museum in the Vysočina Region. It creates, manages, studies and makes accessible natural history and historical collections documenting the history of nature and society, especially in the area of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. It carries out its own research activities, organizes scientific conferences and seminars, publishes a number of periodical and non-periodical scientific publications, provides services for the public in the museum library. In addition to long-term exhibitions, it annually prepares more than three dozen thematic exhibitions, lectures and a number of cultural and social events for the public, including meetings within the international project Science café. It also offers educational programs for schools of all levels, accompanying programs for exhibitions and other educational activities. Part of the MHJ is the Methodological Center for Myrmecology. Its main goal is to provide comprehensive information and methodical services in the field of myrmecology to memory institutions, state administration and self-administration, non-state non-profit organizations and similar entities operating in the Czech Republic.
