"A Grave Full of Life" or an archaeological find and its transformation into a source of many scientific findings using the example of the discovery of textile fragments in the backfill of an unnamed grave

Using the results of the conservation of textile fragments and decorative borders, obtained during the research of the church of St. John the Baptist in Kostelec u Stříbra (Tachov district), will be the procedure for the treatment and processing of such an archaeological find. Visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the wider informational potential that this specific material source offers. Not only the own textiles, stored in protective packaging, will be available for viewing, but it will also be possible to examine their samples under a microscope. Drawing and photographic documentation of the find will be available, but it will also be interesting to find out how much life a long-dead spring can still hide.

They will present:

Martina Šmejdová (archaeologist, head of the rescue archaeological research department of ZČM) and Markéta Sochorová (museum educator of ZČM)
