"Turning mineral wealth into an artistic product"

or

European porcelain – a genius discovery of a naturalist and apothecary

The presentation will remind you that porcelain has not been with us since time immemorial. It was only at the beginning of the 18th century that systematic research in this direction began at the court of Augustus the Strong in Meissen, which led to the creation of red and later white porcelain. The history of the discovery is a fascinating detective story, which we will enrich with examples of mineral raw materials and the resulting products of the Meissen porcelain factory, which was created on the basis of these discoveries.

The presentation of the history of the invention will be complemented by examples of mineral resources, and the results of the work of the discoverers will also be presented.

He will present:

Lenka Merglová Pánková (art historian, curator of the ZČM porcelain, ceramics and glass collections)
